Reflexology
|
The
ancient healing art of reflexology has been known to man
for many thousands of years. It was first practiced by
the early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian people who
observed that congestion or tension in parts of the feet
mirrored congestion or tension in a corresponding part
of the body.
The
Reflexologist uses her hands to apply gentle pressure to
the feet to restore the natural free-flow of energy to
the whole body. The name “reflexology” refers not
only to the reflexes in the feet being stimulated but
also to the theory that every part of the feet
“reflects” an area of the body.
By
picking up subtle signs in the feet, the Reflexologist
can pinpoint subtle inbalances or blockages which
correspond to different areas of the body – with the
aim to restore balance & even out any blockages. |

 |
The
therapy is very relaxing & soothing and not at all painful.
The client may experience some areas of tenderness on the feet
(like when you have a bruise & it is pressed) but this is
fleeting & an indication that something is going on in that
area of the body. By working these points more thoroughly the
Reflexologist can help promote the body’s natural healing
process.

|
Reflexology
does not claim to diagnose, prescribe nor cure.
It
DOES however
encourage the elimination of toxins, improves
circulation, boosts the immune system, relaxes the mind
body & spirit AND helps normalise the body’s
functions. This usually results in an overall feeling of
well-being & eases or totally eradicates symptoms of
any number of ailments. |
These
include :
Allergies / Hay fever, Back complaints,
Bladder
and Kidney problems, Children’s
bed wetting, Constipation
Digestive
disorders e.g. IBS,
Hormonal Imbalance, Insomnia,
Menopausal discomfort, Respiratory
problems including Asthma ,
Skin
complaints e.g. Eczema, Stress
& Tension and Migraine Headaches.
Requires
the client to remove shoes & socks only
- and don’t worry – it doesn’t tickle !
Reflexology
for Fertility
(see
also Fertility, Pregnancy
& Women’s health page)
Reflexology
for fertility will help on an emotional as well as physical
level.
| Physically
it can help to regulate the menstrual cycle and to
smooth out any unwanted symptoms that may accompany the
period such as PMT, scanty or excessive bleeds,
irregular cycles, mid cycle bleeds, headaches, cramping
& backache. It can also help with hormonal
imbalances often associated with Polycystic Ovary
Syndrome (PCOS).
This
in itself should help to enhance the receptivity of the
uterus and to enhance the quality of the ovum (eggs waiting
to ovulate).
Emotionally,
the reflexology can be a support to you just to relax,
chill out & have someone outside of your normal
circle to speak to. Reflexology also works on an energy
level so it can bring about changes to you on many
levels, allowing you to change attitudes & behaviors
which may be standing in your way of
parenthood. |

|
Reflexology
is also a tremendous support for couples choosing assisted
conception, as it is an excellent way to help to cope with the
often stressful procedures, and to help balance any side effects
of the drug therapy, as well as being an emotional support.
Don’t
forget those DAD’s to be too!! Men need some attention too
& are often forgotten at this time.
Reflexology
is just as beneficial to the male as it helps lower stress
levels which can have an adverse reaction on sperm productivity
& development, as well as giving the man someone else to
talk to about his feelings at this time.
You
may decide that Reflexology alone is enough for you at this time
or you could explore the mind/ body link in more depth with TheWholeU
Fertility Therapy.
