What
is Reflexology?
|

|
Reflexology
is a holistic therapy complimentary to
conventional medicine.
It endeavours to find the root cause
of a problem, rather than just treating the symptom.
It is not a new fad which is “here
today, gone tomorrow”!
In fact, it was practised by the early
Indians, Chinese and Egyptians some 5000 years
ago.
They discovered that imbalances in
certain parts of the body can be mirrored in
corresponding points on the feet.
|
To
explain, if you think of the feet divided into a very
fine grid, a trained Reflexologist can detect, by gentle
compression massage on that grid whether there is an
imbalance in a certain point which may cause symptoms of
ill health in a corresponding part the body. For
example, migraine might actually stem from a blockage in
the digestive tract but the symptom is released by pain
in the head.
Therefore although taking a tablet may relieve
the pain in the head, the root cause of the problem will
remain untreated.
However,
it is a misconception that you only need Reflexology if
you have a physical pain e.g. backache.
Many people have emotional issues which can’t
be “seen” but feelings of stress, fatigue and lack
of self worth are just a couple of things that will have
a very detrimental effect on our health and happiness.
Again,
it must be noted that Reflexology
does not profess to diagnose or cure a condition,
but it may well give an indication for which medical
advice should be sought if necessary.
It CAN however, encourage the elimination of
toxins, improves immunity and circulation and certainly
relaxes the body, physically, emotionally and
spiritually to enhance well being.
